Graham Moore, Zoey Deutch Shine at LA Debut of Focus Features ‘The Outfit’

Bringing a new look to gangster movies, Focus Features unrolled the red carpet at a special Los Angeles screening of “The Outfit” at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, along with its stars and director.

The film is Graham Moore’s directorial debut from a screenplay by Moore and Johnathan McClain. Moore, who is no stranger to accolades, is an Oscar winner for his script “The Imitation Game,” which starred Benedict Cumberbatch in an Oscar-nominated turn as codebreaker Alan Turing. 

The film stars an ensemble cast including Oscar winner Rylance (“Bridge of Spies”), Zoey Deutch, Johnny Flynn, Dylan O’Brien, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Simon Russell Beale.

“Back to the Future” icon Lea Thompson joined her daughter, rising actress Zoey Deutch, for a family affair.

Set in Chicago in the wintery 1950s, “The Outfit” places the spotlight around an English cutter (Rylance) who is mistakenly referred to as the town’s tailor, who must then fend off dangerous mobsters to save his own life and that of his assistant and surrogate-daughter (Deutch).

The film is Moore’s directorial debut from a screenplay by Moore and Johnathan McClain. Focus Features’ chairman Peter Kujawski praised the work of Moore and highlighted the craft of Moore and the honor of making his directorial debut with Focus.

Moore gave kudos to the cast and crew of the production and gave praises to working with Rylance. “Whenever you can just aim the camera at Mark Rylance and let him work, you know it’s gonna be a great day on set.”

The film recently premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival to generally positive reviews on February 14, 2022, and is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 18, 2022.
